In the 2008 Olympics, there are two kinds of sports—those where China hopes to win medals, and those where China expects to win medals. Diving is definitely in the second group. China dominates the sport in an exceptional way, winning almost three out of every four medals in the last five Olympic games.

The above video from the Discovery Channel gives some insight into how the program finds and develops its athletes.

The Chinese diving team is currently making the rounds of the FINA Diving World Series. At the series first stage, in Tijuana (Mexico), Chinese divers won five golds, four silvers and two bronzes. The series' next stage takes place in Sheffield (Great Britain) May 24 and 25. It comes to the Nanjing Olympic Sports Center May 30 and 31, with competition both days from 1:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
